People is expanding its lifestyle coverage with the launch of People Health, a new vertical that will give the brand's audience expanded access to health-related celebrity, service, and human interest stories across all platforms. The new vertical launches in the March 5 issue, on newsstands February 23, and is already available online at People.com/Health.
“Our audience has shown a great demand for the personal stories about how celebrities like Selena Gomez, Maria Menounos, and Angelina Jolie have overcome their health challenges, and the emotional stories of how real people have achieved their own health milestones,” says Jess Cagle, editor-in-chief, People. “With the launch of People Health, we have an even greater platform to inspire our audience as we continue to tell these real-life and celebrity health stories, and to inform them further about how to be their healthiest selves.”
In addition, People Health will feature a Health Squad of licensed professionals who will advise on editorial franchises such as Ask a Doctor, helping readers with common health concerns. The People Health Squad includes Dr. Travis Stork, trainers Gunnar Peterson, Erin Oprea, and David Kirsh, nutritionist Dawn Jackson Blatner, OBGYN Dr. Mary Jane Minkin, pediatrician Dr. Elizabeth Murray, and clinical psychologist Dr. Robin H. Gurwitch.
The launch of People Health arrives as traffic to health-related content has shown sustained increases across social and digital platforms. Tina Johnson, senior editor at People and the founding editor-in-chief of Women’s Health, will lead the vertical.
